Overexposed! How Much Visibility is Too Much?

We have just learned of a Communications Director for a CAC-40 company who was asked by the CEO to terminate the contract with their press relations agency for creating too much media exposure!

The boss thought the company had more press coverage than they needed: though they are fifth player in their market sector, they had been getting more media coverage than the number one company. The boss felt their own exposure was therefore excessive, and at this point, not worth additional investment. Now that’s a CEO who understands everything in the art of communication: the benchmark is more important than the fundamentals of the process!
